More Reasons to Eat Fruit

Eating fruit provides many health benefits, especially to those people who eat more fruits and vegetables as part of an overall healthy diet are likely to have a reduced risk of some chronic diseases. As we all know, fruits provide nutrients vital for health and maintenance of our body. Fruits are sources of many essential nutrients that are under consumed, including potassium, dietary fiber, vitamin C and folic acid. Diets rich in potassium may help to maintain healthy blood pressure. Fruit sources of potassium include bananas, prunes and prune juice, dried peaches and apricots, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, and orange juice.

Dietary fiber from fruits helps reduce blood cholesterol levels and may lower the risk of heart diseases. Fiber is also important for proper bowel function. It helps reduced constipation and diverticulosis (a condition that develops when pouches form in the wall of the colon or the large intestine). Fiber containing foods such as fruits helps provide a feeling of fullness with fewer calories. Whole or cut-up fruits are sources of dietary fiber; fruit juices contain little or no fiber at all. On the other hand, Vitamin C is also important for growth and repair of all body tissues, helps heal cuts and wounds a lot faster, and keeps teeth and gums healthy. While, Folate helps the tissues in our body grow and for cells to work or function properly. Taking the right amount of folic acid before and during pregnancy helps prevent certain birth defects. Folate also helps prevent anemia.

Those are the healthy benefits of eating the right foods in their right amount too. That is also the reason why fruits in our dining table at home is always present because our body needs these essential nutrients. Compared to artificial fruits that others are using for display, although it has it's advantages but also one of the disadvantages is that, artificial fruits are not consumable and are only good for displays or it is for our eyes only.
